Throughout history, man has searched for health and wealth -- many have searched in the wrong places -- such as the search for the fabled fountain of youth at the time of the Spanish conquest in the Americas.

I have come to believe that the key is not to be found in some magical place or thing; but rather that it has, by the grace of God, been here all the time.

Many and perhaps most religions of the world believe that in creating man on earth, God also placed on earth, all that man needs to sustain a prosperous, healthy and long life. But somewhere along the way, we began to lose touch with some of God's greatest gifts to man.

Today, we live in industrial societies that do indeed to provide many benefits in the form of products that make life easier and more comfortable: the automobile, air conditioning, electricity, the cell phone, the computer, and so on. But, progress, in terms of human comfort and convenience, has not come without great cost.

Today, many forms of pollution surround us that 100 or even 50 years ago were unknown to man. Environmental contaminates coat our lungs and toxic wastes invade our air and water. Living in a modern industrial society places a heavy burden on even the wonderfully complex and efficient human body system that God gave each one of us.

Man's drive for progress and economic success has brought stress, and with stress has come increasing use of medicines, alcohol and even drugs. Cancer, which is essentially caused when the human body immune system gets overtaxed and is unable to prevent cells of the body from becoming malignant, is a word that 100 years ago was not part of our daily vocabulary.

Modern science and technology, with all its wondrous capabilities for detecting the specific causes of human diseases and which has brought forth many new forms of treatment -- has not been able to effectively deal with the physical and sociological side effects of the progress that man has achieved. Chemotherapy, which does kill cancer cells, also leaves the human immune system less able to internally deal with many other forms of disease.

In stark contrast, there are societies in today's world that, essentially isolated from the modern world, have escaped these side effects. In South America there are primitive native Indian tribes that have experienced virtually no incidence of heart disease or cancer and who live in good health into their 80’s, 90’s and even to 100 years of age. Studies of these people indicate that they possess no magical potions. Instead, they have used only the primitive God-given products of nature.

Recognizing this, many scientists now believe that nature holds the key and that because we have strayed from the natural diets of our ancestors, we have lost much of the phytochemical protection from disease that is offered in nature by plants in particular. Additionally, the modern diet typically contains large amounts of saturated animal fats, hydrogenated oils, calories, sodium and other ingredients that when added to the environmental contaminates characteristic of industrial societies, renders the human body more susceptible to disease.

For the last twenty-five years I have engaged in a personal quest to re-discover the lost secrets of natural products -- products that have the ability not to cure symptoms (as so much of modern medicine does), but to find natural products that strengthen the systems of the human body and their ability to internally resist disease and the effects of aging.

My quest has involved a wide variety of natural plants and medicinal. In my search, I have found only one plant that has benefits for the total human body system. I have found only one plant that has a wide array of nutrients and natural plant chemicals that have been scientifically linked to good health and that appear to act in a synergistic way to protect and strengthen all of the body's major systems and vital organs. Many plants and medicinal herbs have specialized benefits such as Aloe Vera for cuts and burns. But the only plant that I have found that treats the total human body is Nopal.

Nopal is native to the American continent. However, so impressed with its properties were the Spaniards, they took Nopal from the Americas to many countries of the world beginning in the 1400’s. I have traveled the world over and have now visited every country where Nopal is found. While Nopal may today be found in places far distant from the Americas such as the Mediterranean, Israel and Australia, my tests indicate that the very best Nopal is found in Mexico. This is because of unique climactic and soil/mineral conditions.

So important is Nopal in Mexico, that the emblem on the flag of Mexico has a royal eagle perched on a Nopal plant, clutching a snake in its talons. This emblem stems from ancient Aztec legend and Nopal is said to hold within it the passion and the essence of the Mexican race.

Having found the plant and the very best possible source of supply, I then set out to find and develop a process to extract the active ingredients found in Nopal. I have worked on the Desert Bloom method of processing Nopal for the last four years. The process is vitally important because a method had to be found that would not diminish the effects of any of the natural ingredients found in Nopal or the manner in which they work synergistically to strengthen, maintain and repair human body systems.

Today several companies offer dehydrated Nopal in capsule or powdered form. That is unacceptable for Desert Bloom because scientific tests of dehydrated Nopal indicate that its only benefit is course fiber, which does have some colon cleansing benefit -- but dehydration eliminates all of its other and more powerful benefits. Again, my research indicates that it is not any one single nutrient or ingredient in Nopal that gives it its unique benefits, but the total combination. It is very much like an orchestra. Only when all of an orchestra's instruments are doing their part is beautiful music heard.

Consequently, Desert Bloom Nopal is an extract of Nopal in juice form. Secondly, our studies have shown that heating (such as through pasteurization) serves to enhance the beneficial properties of raw Nopal. Third, Desert Bloom Nopal is a 100% natural product with only a natural form of sodium benzoate and citricidin added as preservatives. In this manner, the Desert Bloom process of preparing Nopal is designed to retain and enhance the natural synergistic properties of Nopal.

At the beginning of our testing among people in the United States and Asia, we found even a single strength concentration of Nopal to have all of the benefits reported in prior research--in many but not all people tested. We then developed a process for concentrating the extract, and expanded our testing to include different levels of concentration. The process developed permits concentration of the active ingredients of Nopal, including its 18 amino acids, unsaturated fats, soluble fiber (pectin in particular), and its essential vitamins, minerals and other natural phytochemicals.

The results of our research, development and testing have truly been amazing. Certain results we expected to find, but by concentrating the extract, we confirmed other reported benefits of Nopal that could not conclusively be demonstrated through the consumption of Nopal as a vegetable food or as a single strength juice extract.
